Sewers for Adoption

Sewers for Adoption Introduction

The 6th edition of "Sewers for Adoption" was published in March 2006 ready for implementation by all Water Companies on 1st May 2006.

SFA 6 includes detailed requirements for lateral drains and SUSTAINABLE URBAN DRAINAGE SYSTEMS (SUDS) in order that they can be offered for adoption.

Each sewerage undertaker has their own individual requirements and conditions of use for pipe materials, for a summary of these view Supplemetary Documents page. The types of pipes to be used should be discussed in advance with the Undertaker and agreed before construction. Any comments should be addressed directly to the company concerned.

Technology and Standards are constantly changing and the need for regular reviews of the document has been recognised by the water companies, developers and product manufacturers. Please contact us if you wish to make any comments on the document.
